Smart classrooms are transforming the way teachers teach and students learn with innovative and meaningful use of technology.

ECE Department Library

ECE Department library is a provision of physical and virtual learning environment which supports study, research and recreational interests. Department Library manages knowledge, both in print and digital formats, ensures seamless discovery and access to these scholarly resources, and provides faculty, students, and staff with professional support to find, evaluate, manage, and use such resources. It has a collection of over 1000 documents comprising of books, thesis, journals, training reports, project reports which can be used by students as well as staff members.

It provides an excellent ambience for both reflective and collaborative work and study. The library includes reference books pertaining to various subjects of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Previous year’s question-papers and syllabus. Library subscribes National & International journals, Lab manuals and submitted student reports for the guidance to the students. Students and staff can access following database from the library.

Labs

  • Department of Electronics and Communication is fully equipped with the laboratories providing practical aspect to the students so that they can utilize their knowledge in an effective manner.
  • The students are encouraged to undertake minor major projects of technical subjects projects in final year of their curriculum. These projects are mentored by faculty. The students are made aware of the DST grants/PTU IDP projects grants and others from time to time.
  • Patent advisor/advocate visit campus fortnightly and take up queries of students as well as faculty about filling of an IPR. In addition to this, students and faculty also get financial help from college to promote R & D work.
  • Department has adequate number of lab instructors and lab attendants as per lab locations. The lab staff is motivated to attend workshops/FDPs/STCs/Seminars so that skill up gradation of each individual can be done.

Seminar Hall

ECE department has a well equipped, ultra-modern seminar hall with computer and audio visual equipment, Wi-Fi to facilitate the students and to smoothly conduct various departmental events, workshops Guest Lectures and various other activities. The seminar has a total seating capacity of 150-200.

Girls Common Room

  • The department has a spacious common room for girls with proper sitting on first floor keeping in view the requirement of the female students.
  • The common room is provided with good lightening system.
  • Various facilities like books, newspapers, magazines are available where girls can go through, relax, discuss their ideas in available free time .

Digital Communication System Lab (DCS)

Department of Electronics and Communications engineering has digital communication system laboratory whose facilities are totally accessible to all students and faculty members.

Digital Communication Systems laboratory supports undergraduate and postgraduate students in their courses and related projects. Lab covers analog to digital conversions, pulse shaping, sampling, digital modulation and Time division multiplexing/De-multiplexing related kits.

Digital Circuit and Logic Design (DCLD) Lab

In present scenario, digital electronics are applied in many diverse areas such as telephony, data processing, radar, navigation, military system etc. This lab is intended for practicing theoretical knowledge by designing and understanding basic gates, Adder, Subtractor, Encoders, Decoders, Multiplexers and De multiplexers etc. The main objective of this lab is to serve as a platform for designing combinational and sequential logic circuits and to study various timer circuits. A brief idea of different digital I.C’s is provided.

The students also learn the use of various flip-flops, synchronous & asynchronous counters, bidirectional registers, parity generators & checkers and magnitude comparator.

This lab is equipped with equipments like Digital IC logic Trainers, Digital IC Testers, A/D converter and D/A converter kits.

VLSI Lab/OOPS Lab

The VLSI/OOPS lab provides state-of-art simulation tools and computational facility for VLSI device/circuit analysis and design.

This lab is equipped with the latest and up-to-date industry standard VLSI tools and hardware resources. The lab facility includes course lab which focuses on experimental studies for the UG courses of VLSI Technology and Design (BTEC-605) and Object oriented programming LAB (BTCS-305).

The VLSI/OOPS lab provides number of facilities for students with latest hardware and software tools like Xilinx10.1, Open Source Software: Turbo C, DEV C++, FPGA prototyping boards, Networked computing environment with Linux and Windows.

This software provides the students with the necessary platform to work on HDL, VHDL are also required to work with sophisticated hardware like Spartan-III FPGA boards. Students are encouraged to use the lab resources to perform activities and experiments which help them strengthen their concepts.

Facility is further augmented by setting up of the VLSI design Lab with a dedicated Mentor Graphics and Vivado simulator tools , Zed Board, Analog and Digital IO boards and DSP kits from Xilinx. Two of the software tools are hosted on two dedicated servers that support both these labs for performing the UG experiments.

Project Lab

The main Purpose of Project Lab is to simulate day to day situations interrelated to ECE and impart enough training so that confidence to tackle and face any difficulty in the field is developed in the college itself. The project work so chosen by the student shall culminate in gaining of major design experience in the related area of specialization.

As a discipline, projects of ECE majorly focus on the design of underlying hardware systems. Each project covers all the aspects (to the extent possible) like investigation, designing, coding detailing, implementation of a Electronics and Communication circuits / systems, while encouraging development of necessary skills for integration of hardware and software components. Additionally, a few research problems identified in laboratories may also be taken as a project work. Projects undertaken by students are based on following Research Areas:

Hardware Programme And Interfacing Lab

Hardware Programme and Interfacing lab is designed in such a way that the students get hands on experience with the concepts they come across in the theory of MPMC. The Lab is well equipped with both hardware and software (Keil) facilities required by the students to perform the necessary experiments designed for this lab.
Various 8085 Microprocessor Kits,8051 Microcontroller Kits,ADC/DAC interfacing cards, Stepper motor and DC motor Interfacing Cards etc. helps the students to attain the practical knowledge and implement it on various projects for societal needs

Analog Devices and Circuits Lab

Analog devices and circuits lab promotes and guide students about circuit concepts. Students can visualize the circuit behavior through simulation tool like “Multisim”.
In this lab student learn about different special purpose diodes and studies their characteristics along with the applications. Step wise knowledge about electronic components and circuits is imparted.
Taking one step ahead, common emitter amplifier is studied. Students gain knowledge of amplifiers distributed in different classes according to their output like class A, class B, class AB, class B push pull amplifiers etc.
Concept of oscillations and different oscillators (like RC phase shift, Hartley, Colpitt’s oscillators) are analyzed.

Microwave and Radar Engineering (MWR) Lab

Microwave and Radar Engineering laboratory pertains to the study and design of microwave circuits, components, and systems. Fundamental principles are applied to analyze, design and measurement techniques in this field.

This Lab makes students aware of the practical aspect of Microwave and Radar Engg and presents the essential features the same.Inexpensive components and digital communications in the microwave domain have opened up areas pertinent to this discipline. Some of these areas are radar, satellite, wireless radio, optical communication, faster computer circuits, and collision avoidance radar.

Wireless & Optical Communication System & Networks (WOCN) Lab

Wireless and optical communications technologies underpin many of the services and devices that are a part of modern society from the ubiquitous smart phone that is wirelessly connected to the optical communications network through photonic and wireless sensors that enable devices such as optical mice and RF identity cards.

Wireless Optical Systems & Network lab in the department is well equipped to provide students a design and evaluation environment for the study of telecommunication systems as well as wireless and optical networks.The lab also has facilities for designing network hardware, software, components and applications.

PCB Lab

The PCB is widely used in fabrication of electronics as well as electrical circuits since they provide a base for the connections amongst various components used in that particular circuit.
This lab is of utmost importance as this lab is used for the design and development of major and minor projects of the department.

Both single layered and multilayered PCBs can be developed in this lab. The PCBs are developed first by designing the layout; then negative is prepared from lithographic film. The PCB is developed through dip coating machine, drying in the oven, developing in UV light then. After the etching, drilling is done to mount the components on the developed PCB Board.

Machine Vision Group Lab

Machine Vision quality systems are commonly implemented when the variance of production process is difficult to constrain and at the same time high quality and productivity is required (e.g. pharmacy, automotive, electronics, etc.).

The current research interests include exposure fusion, edge-preserving filters, computational photography, high dynamic range imaging and tone mapping. The group has 09 faculty working in different concern areas.

The MV lab is equipped with latest MATLAB and OPEN CV simulation software. DaVinciTM TMS320DM6437 Digital Video Platform (DVDP) is used in real-time industrial vision projects. The DVDP takes the full advantage of DaVinci software and development infrastructure by allowing the users to implement video, audio, voice and speech technology.

Linear Integrated Circuit Lab

Linear Integrated Circuit Laboratory is providing a platform for the designing of various applications of operational amplifiers and analog integrated circuits.The laboratory contains sufficient exercises for a typical 15 week course using a two hour practicum period. Various experiments performed include the basic op-amp principles and show how the op-amp can be used to solve a variety of application problems.

This lab is equipped with lab station including a DC power supply, CRO, DSO, function generators and a quality DMM.For components carbon film resistors ranging from a few ohms to a few mega ohms is available along with an array of typical capacitor values (film types recommended below 1 µF and aluminum electrolytic above).Simulations with quality simulation package such as Multisim and PSpice are often presented as well.

Electronic Measurement and Instrumentation Lab

The main purpose of this lab is to provide practical knowledge to students with basic measurement techniques using electronic instruments.This lab helps students in understanding the operational features of various analog and digital test and measurement equipments, practically.Students learn how to develop and employ circuit models for elementary electronic components, e.g., resistors, sources, inductors, capacitors, diodes and transistors; Students who worked on their projects can access this lab any time it helps them with their electronic circuit preparation for projects and electronic measurement equipments.Various types of recording instruments like strip chart recorders, X-Y recorders and Magnetic tape recorders are also covered in this subject.

These instruments are mainly used in process industry to keep the record of substantial data. This subject also covers the measurement of non electrical or physical quantities using various types of transducers like strain gauge, LVDT, RTD and Thermocouple etc.

Embedded System Lab

Embedded system has a very vast application from making home appliances to multimedia,biomedical instruments and automotive industry.The aim of this lab is to provide students with a strong hardware design skills and software development knowledge backed with applications-led modules.The laboratory is equipped with number of computer and in house designed kits for ARM7 where students are given the opportunity to implement, using a combination of C and the hardware to form an embedded system.

Analog Communication System (ACS) Lab

Communication engineering is the field of study concerned with the transmission of information either in analog or digital form. All kind of signals we deal with in nature are analog. Analog transmission is a method of sending voice, data, image, signal, video etc using a continuous time signal. The objective of this lab is to understand the basic communication techniques and perform them on kits/ breadboard to consolidate basic knowledge in Analog Communication. Through this lab students enhance their knowledge on various communication techniques like AM, FM, PM, DSB-SC, SSB-SC, PAM, PPM, PWM, PCM etc. All the experiments prescribed in & beyond the curriculum are performed.

This lab is equipped with Digital Storage Oscilloscopes, Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes, Function Generators and various kits for implementing and understanding communication circuits/techniques.

Object Oriented Programming Language Lab

This Lab is to help the beginners to understand the basic to advanced concepts related to C++ Programming languages. C++ is a statically typed, compiled, general-purpose, case-sensitive, free-form programming language that supports procedural, object-oriented, and generic programming.

The main purpose of learning a programming language is to become a skilled programmer; that is, to become more effective at designing and implementing new systems and at maintaining old ones.The OOPS lab provides number of facilities for students with latest hardware and software tools like, Open Source Software: Turbo C, DEV C++, Networked computing environment with Linux and Windows.
