Report on Guest lecture “INFORMATION SECURITY” organized by CSE Department CGC COE on 18th Jan 2019 EVENT OBJECTIVE: Department of CSE, CGC-COE organized the guest lecture on INFORMATION SECURITY which was held on 18th Jan,2019. This lecture was organized to introduce the concepts of data security . It was a great exposure for the CGCians. BRIEF PROFILE OF LECTURE Dr. Dhir is working as an Associate Professor at NIT, Jallandhar. She has completed her PH.D from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala. Her interest areas include Digital Image Processing and network Security. Currently she is associated with NIT,Jallandhar as associate Professor since 2005.She has more than 25 years of teaching experience and has published more than 100+ papers in various journals and conferences. The main motive was to teach the basics of all security measures and student could get a fair idea of how security of data is managed in different domain. INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE AUDIENCE, TIMINGS, NUMBER OF STUDENTS AND FACULTY: The talk started with a welcoming speech given by Debalina De, student of CSE. Ms. Reecha Sood was the faculty coordinator. The talk continued from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm about various security measures taken by various companies to save and protect their data. The main motive was to teach the basics of all these methods and student could get a fair idea of how the security is ensured in different networking domain. It also gave a comparison of various security standards with other technologies. It provided the students the exposure of understanding various upcoming security measures as well. Students were also enlightened with various standards and protocols used in to ensure security and protection. Head of Department CSE, Prof.(Dr.) AMIT VERMA ,appreciated the efforts made by the faculty members, coordinators. Limitations and coordinator comments for improvement: The seminar hall was not available due to ongoing Android training.
