FB note on “Actions On Google” organized by IEEE Student Branch under the aegis of Department of Computer Science, CGC COE on 18th September , 2018

Event Objective: Department of CSE, CGC COE in collaboration with IEEE Student Branch organized a workshop on Actions on Google on 18th September, 2018. About the Event: The event was inaugurated by S. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman of Chandigarh Group of Colleges and S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, and Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Director Principal, CGC College of Engineering. The program started with a welcome speech given by Dr. Rajdeep Singh. Dr. Manish Mahajan welcomed everybody. Mr. Manpreet Singh Bajwa, Faculty Coordinator, introduced the audience with the theme of the event and also briefed about the profiles of the resource persons. The complete talk continued from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Expert Talk was well attended by approximately 60 students of B.Tech CSE Department and a few faculty members. The resource person was Mr. Kamal Vaid, Technical Analyst, Infosys, Chandigarh. The Expert Talk was conducted to make the students aware about Actions on Google, i.e. How the Google Assistant understands the commands given by the user when it is invoked. In the last half an hour, Mr. Kamal Vaid also talked about how IT firms like Infosys operates and the latest technological trends followed in the company. He also discussed the future aspects and scope in the IT field. Head of Department CSE Dr. Manish Mahajan, appreciated the efforts done by all the faculty members and the student coordinators. He concluded the Event by presenting a Vote of Thanks. Event Outcome: The event came up with various outcomes like students were introduced to the working behind Google Assistant. They also became aware of the technological advancements in the IT Companies. At the end, students were able to develop a Virtual Assistant. Scope for Improvement: The event started with a delay of 20 minutes. .
